Saying Goodbye to Summer

It was a typical summer Vineyard visit...messing around on the beach and in the water.

Zoe and Uncle Ben snorkeling.

Zan playing with rocks.
Zan, Nick and Nate messing around in the water. Their favorite thing to do was tie Carter's tube to one of the kayaks and paddle around towing a cousin or two.

Uncle Ben, Uncle Duncan, Zan and Zoe on Ben's sailboat.

Typical, but special because all five cousins on my side of the family were there - Nick, Zoe, Nate, Carter and Zan. I love watching them doing many of the same things that I did with my brothers and cousins:

sailing on the sunfish
playing in the waves on the south side of the island
trying for the brass ring at The Flying Horses
nursing jellyfish stings
walking around on the beach with no shoes on despite the rocks and shells
playing card and board games together
eating meals out on the deck
hotdogs at the beach for lunch
looking for critters in the water
sleeping in the bunk room
swimming to the point
feeding bread to the ducks at the bridge
walking to town to pick out a book at The Bunch of Grapes
donuts for breakfast...
