Scenes from Winter

We've been out enjoying the snow & ice!

This morning we went skating at the park and had the pond to ourselves (for a few minutes)!

Last week Zan and I went snowshoeing at Audubon to look for animal tracks. The snow was so deep that it was hard to decipher the tracks that we did find, however we concluded that one set was probably from a deer and the other was some type of "bounder," like a fisher or a weasel.

Zan consults the identification chart.
The pond was frozen over.

We did some extreme sledding at Dougie's 4th birthday party! A bonfire to keep warm and a tractor to pull you up the hill made for a fabulous sledding experience.

While Zoe took a trail ride last week, Zan and I went snowshoeing around Tamarack. It was fun to visit the marsh & walk across it.
Zoe has been skiing in the Bill Koch Ski League this winter and I've been trying to get out to ski most mornings after I drop the kids at school, but last weekend we finally got out as a family.

Zoe is pulling Zan up the hill so they can go down again and again and again....

Grandma gave Zan a "backyard" snowboard for Christmas this year. He seems to be a natural.
Wednesday afternoon playdates have become the norm for Zan and his friends Ryan & Camden. One day we went sledding at the park.
