Weekend of Tournaments

This past weekend was a crazy weekend of tournaments.  Zan had a hockey tournament, which translates to five hockey games in less than forty eight hours! To get to the championship game they won in the semi-finals against "red,"  a nail-biting, low scoring game.  After a quick lunch and a brief rest it was back to the rink (with a supportive crowd from our neighborhood - complete with cow bell) for the last game of the season.  Although they didn't win the championship, "green" never gave up and played hard until the buzzer.  The team was thrilled with their trophies and the agony of defeat was quickly forgotten over pizza and endless fountain drinks.  Six months is a LONG season!   While I am glad that we can put the hockey equipment away until next fall, in a twisted way, I am sorry to see it end.

On Saturday, Zoe's Destination Imagination Team competed in the regional tournament, presenting their solution to the "Triple Take Road Show" challenge.  Insane Asylum 6, as they named themselves, stayed after school for months, met during school vacations and on weekends to prepare their story.  It was a long day, beginning at 6:30 AM and ending at 9:30 PM.  Although the girls were exhausted by the end and disappointed with their scoring, they too were able to forget the agony of defeat thanks to  a fried food feast at Applebees.  Lunch at the dining hall of the college campus was also a big hit - so many choices!
