Squam Lakes Natural Science Center

Today we went to the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, where the native NH animal exhibits are interspersed along the trail, with Sandy and Nathan.  We saw an opossum, skunks, bobcats, mountain lions, deer, black bear, river otters, songbirds, bald eagles, hawks and a peregrine falcon.  We saw the river otters being fed - they drop ice balls with fish inside to them.  They play with the ice balls and then chew the fish out.  The raptors had just been fed also - they were all tearing into various sized rodents.  There are also kid friendly slides and climbing structures built into the exhibits - a big hit!

We ate lunch in quiet Kirkwood Gardens, away from the crowds of camp kids.
We ended the day at Granite State Chocolate for the best ice cream in the world!
