A few nights ago we returned from a bike ride to find one of the baby robins perched on the side of Zan's fort. The other two were still in the nest. We watched for a while, but he didn't budge. The next morning when I went out for a walk he was STILL there. As the morning went on, we watched as all three took their first flights. They stayed close to our yard for a little while and the mother continued to feed them. By afternoon they were gone...we didn't disturb the nest for a few days...not sure if they would return or not. They didn't, so the kids retrieved it. The construction is amazing - twigs, grass, string and mud. Zan has been busy whipping his fort back into shape, sweeping and scrubbing the mess made by the robins.
