Acadia National Park

Once Zoe's team was knocked out of the state tournament we were free to go on our scheduled camping trip to Acadia National Park.  We camped at Blackwood's campground in the park.  Some noisy neighbors forced a move to another site halfway through the week, but the move was remarkably easy and our new site was even closer to the ocean - a beautiful view of Otter Point from a steep rocky ledge. On our first night we had dinner at Jordan Pond Tea House to celebrate our anniversary - 13 years!  Dinner included their famous popovers and afterward we took a beautiful evening walk half way around Jordan Pond.

On Tuesday we went for a bike ride on the carriage paths - Witch Hole Pond Loop and one side of Eagle Pond.  The paths were remarkably uncrowded for July.  The ONLY bad part of our trip was a sunset whale watch that evening on the Atlantic Cat (we found out later it is nicknamed the "Vomit Comet").  Need I say more?

We got up early on Wednesday so that we could have Jordan Pond to ourselves for an early morning walk and returned to the carriage paths for an afternoon ride around Aunt Betty's Pond Loop, followed by more popovers at Jordan Pond!

On Thursday we headed to Bar Harbor for the first time, walking across the sand bar to Bar Island at low tide and climbed a short way to the summit.  We did some souvenir shopping, drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain and explored Sieur de Monts spring area (disappointing).

Friday morning we broke camp and headed to Camden for a quick visit with Aunt Debbie and Uncle Peter in their new house on the hottest day in recent history!

Taking a Break in the middle of Aunt Betty's Pond path - killer climbs, but gorgeous scenery!

Great pictures! Sounds like you all had fun :)

I have a picture of Ivy and I that's similar to the one of you, Zoe, and Zan taken at Acadia N.P. when we were 10 or so. This post makes me want to dig it up.

Josh used to try to go for a whole vacation without taking a bath but that was on the VIneyard and he was swimming everyday.
