Temple Mountain...MORE berries!

Yesterday we climbed Temple Mountain with the Blueberry Weekend Gang as part of the annual Blueberry Weekend .  We climb Temple Mountain then hop on the Wapack Trail at the top , which leads to a huge patch of wild high bush blueberries.  Sandy's parents, Bob and Shirley, started this tradition years ago (maybe Sandy can confirm how many).  Gina, Robin, Nancy and I began participating when were in college, now we bring our families.  It was great to see everyone and especially nice to meet baby Max for the first time.   I was too lazy to lug the camera up the mountain so I don't have any photos.

The blueberries were plentiful this year so it was easy picking!  We managed to get up the mountain, eat lunch, pick tons of berries and get back down the mountain before the rain came down.

Temple Mountain has been a defunct ski resort for years.  Recently the land was purchased privately so that developers couldn't get their hands on it.  It was then donated and is now Temple Mountain Reservation.  All of the lifts and buildings have been removed and the vegetation is reclaiming the mountain.
