Riley

Riley

Last summer we saw a live animal show, featuring animals from Australia.  One of the cutest animals at the show was a White's Tree Frog, which has been at the top of Zoe's Christmas list ever since.  Santa delivered Riley and all the accessories...terrarium (complete with vines, bathing pool, instruments for measuring temperature and humidity, special reptile glo light bulb), spray bottle for misting and freeze -dried mealworms.  As it turns out Riley only likes live food - crickets!  Off we went to the pet store to buy crickets, however you can't just buy a cricket or two unless you want to go to the pet store EVERY day, so you buy a lot of crickets (30).  But what do you do with thirty crickets?  You buy a "cricket keeper," of course.  But if you are going to keep thirty crickets you have to feed them, so you buy cricket food.  The crickets are supposed to be "dusted" daily with a calcium supplement.  That's where I drew the line!  Finally, thirty crickets chirp, loudly.  Every night now SOUNDS  like a summer night, yet the temperature is ALWAYS below freezing.

Zan's trucks and Zoe's frog are very cool! Santa rocks!!
The cricket story sounds very similar to the children's book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie."
