Yesterday we hiked to the top of Skatutakee Mountain in Hancock at the Harris Conservation and Education Center, an amazing place, consisting of over 12,000 protected acres. It was a relatively easy hike - perfect for warming Zoe and Zan up for some more challenging hikes this summer. You could see Monadnock from the summit, but much of the view was obscured by trees. There were lots of high and low bush blueberry bushes...something to remember in late July/early August.
We saw quite a few lady slippers on the trail.
The kids were intrigued by this root cellar door in the side of a hill.

love the lady slippers...among my fav, but trilliums are my fav fav...
cannto wait till we can ride with the big kids and do some bigger hikes together...ellie is in training...for it all: the hikes, the mosquitoes, the everything and she is rokcing.
My kids would have been so intrigued by that door in the side of the hill as well!!! Hope to see you all soon... Any plans to come to Maine again this summer? Or maybe we could meet at the Dover Children's Museum?
