Finding a Balance...

A few years ago, Zoe was hesitant to try anything new, but something changed this year...now she is eager to try every activity that comes along. I struggle with encouraging and supporting her in trying new things and making sure she is not over-scheduled, allowing her time to be a kid.
At the beginning of the school year, the community music school was looking for kids to round out their choral program. Zoe was eager to join. Horseback riding, piano lessons and singing...perfect...not TOO much. Early this spring, she begged Mike to begin teaching her the flute. He did and she loves it, so much so that he agreed to let her participate in his band camp if she could reach the playing level of the rest of his students (she did). Next year she can begin playing a string instrument at her school....she has her sights set on the violin.
She's been wanting to try out for a community theatre children's production for several years, but we've always been out of town. This year we weren't and she has a part in "Tom Sawyer" this fall.
Last night at swim lessons, one of her instructors mentioned that they were looking for kids to join swim team for the summer. Zoe's hand flew up.
When is it TOO much?

Sounds like Zoe has inherited Mike's talent and that is all good. I am so glad she is positive and eager - signs of healthy self esteem - good job Pam and Mike!
